Dish Network - Does it Function With Trees Between the Dish Antenna & Satellite?

A lot of Dish Network enthusiasts are often faced with the query of whether Dish Network can function smoothly if there are trees blocking the clear transmissions between the dish antennas and the satellites. Though the answer cannot be stated in very definite terms as either "Yes" or "No", but most studies demonstrate that there is a dim possibility that this claim might be true.

So what is the solution around it? To be on the safer side, it would be ideal to have a professional visit your area of Dish Network installation and have it surveyed for a feasibility report. These professionals are easy to find and they have the necessary mechanisms to measure signal strengths at various positions around your property to determine the area of optimal signal efficiency.

Dish Network

Trees being unpredictable in their growth, shape, and structure of leaves and branches, each instance of a sighted tree in the way of a dish network is unique. Many of them make no difference to the network and there are still others that do.

Dish Network - Does it Function With Trees Between the Dish Antenna & Satellite?

Because the dish network professionals are well-versed with the root cause of the issue, they will have grasp on conducting a thorough geographical survey of the area of installation. This will help them determine the height at which your dish antenna will have to be mounted for maximum signal reception.

So for instance the more you travel to the North, say for example around the New Hampshire area, a dish will have to be mounted at a much lower height for clarity in signals. Whereas, the opposite is true, going towards the South, say for instance around Florida, where the dish will have to be mounted at a much higher elevation.

Having a professional conduct a survey for your Dish Network installation is recommended during the summer months. This is because summers will witness the trees in their full-bloom, as compared to winters when the signals will be better anyway due to leaf shedding.

Dish Network vs Direct TV - Which is Best?

I'd finally had enough of cable after their last service hike. It was time to join the masses of satisfied satellite customers and make the big switch.

But, which one to choose? After all, I'd been a tried-and-true cable buyer for so long; I had no idea which satellite provider was best.

Dish Network

"Oh, just pick one," my neighbor told me. "They're all the same."

Dish Network vs Direct TV - Which is Best?

That couldn't be right, I thought.

Or could it?

So I began a month-long saga of satellite TV research, comparing Dish Network vs Direct TV every which way until I knew every last detail about each service.

Much to my family's despair, I was determined to find out everything I could about the satellite providers available, and make an informed consumer choice.

And the problem is, most sites that pretend to tell where to find the best deals are just plain awful.

Now, I did find three that were worthwhile. To find out which ones those are, you have to scroll down to the bottom of this story where you'll find the links.

The good news, of course, is that there are only two companies to choose from - Dish Network and Direct TV. Considering how hard it was to find many differences between the two (and ultimately decide which one was best), I sure was glad there weren't others.

My first concern was whether or not I could use both companies where I live. That wasn't a problem for me, but a friend was told that Direct TV could not provide a signal in his neighborhood due to some large oak trees in the neighbor's yard which interfered with their signal. But, he told me, since the signal from Dish Network came from the opposite direction (go figure), he was able to sign on with them - making his decision easier than mine.

Next, I looked at service.

Both companies provided about the same level of service for relatively the same price. Packages for both Dish Network and Direct TV begin at about .99 a month, with their most useful family packages ranging around -.

I did find that Direct TV offered more comprehensive sports packages, including the NFL Sunday Ticket (hooray!), as well as packages covering all of the major college and professional sports teams. They also sport fewer blackout dates in many of the big cities like Philadelphia, making their packages well worth the extra money.

While Direct TV also offers other less-popular international sports such as cricket, rugby and soccer, Dish Network tends to concentrate more on the international sports coverage, according to many of the people I talked to.

One of the things that stood out among the Dish network programming seemed to be their variety of Latino and International channels and shows. For those looking for non-American (non-English) programming, Dish might be the way to go.

Since both companies offered all-digital packages, loads of high definition channels and plenty of individual packages to choose from, my next concern was in regards to set-up fees and installation.

It's true that both providers "officially" charge for equipment and installation, however, unless you're the kind of person who walks onto a car lot and just pays sticker price, you shouldn't ever have to pay for this.

Both Dish Network and Direct TV continually offer a variety of promotions and specials for first-time users that provide basic installation and equipment for free, in addition to a myriad of coupons and gift certificates that can be redeemed for additional equipment and/or services including 1-3 months of free service; free pay-per-view movies; channel upgrades and more.

Where do you find these deals?

Again, you really have to go down to the bottom of this story and click on those links! They'll save you a ton of time!

So, on to the million dollar question: which service is better?

Believe it or not, after all that research I came away convinced that neither service outranks the other in more than a few small areas. Both offer between 180-250 channels, a variety of comprehensive sports packages (although Direct TV seems to provide more professional sports game options for the all-around sports lover), 100% all-digital and High Definition packages. And they do this for relatively the same price.

In the end, I chose Direct TV simply because they offered the NFL Sunday Ticket and Dish didn't. Boy, am I glad I did!

As promised, Direct TV has given my family more than 250 channels to choose from, loads of sporting events, music concerts and pay-per-view movies. We've never enjoyed such a crystal clear picture before, and I am happy to report that we've only lost our signal once, and that was during a major snow storm last winter that ended up knocking out the electricity, so we wouldn't have been able to watch TV anyway.

And, by the time the electricity came back on, so did our satellite signal! (Our neighbors with cable weren't so lucky - their signal was out for three days. Hah!)

Am I glad I ditched cable? You bet I am! I have a clearer picture, more channels to choose from and hassle free service, all for a fraction of the cost!

Don't forget to check out the three sites below to make sure you're always up to date on the best deals.

Dish Network Review - How Does Dish Network Stack Up?

I started out to write a straight review of Dish Network for you, but I did want to mention there's a little secret buried in here about how to save a ton of money when you order the Dish service. So pay attention, okay?

This review is going to start with a little story about my buddy Tim.

Dish Network

Tim is the most stubborn person I've ever known. Even when we were kids, I told him about a shortcut he could take through the woods to get from his house to mine a lot faster. Did he listen? No, he continued to go the long way around.

Dish Network Review - How Does Dish Network Stack Up?

I told him not to use the rope swing over the river, the water was down and it would be too shallow. Did he listen? No, and he spent most of that summer in a cast from the knee down.

Even though I know about his stubborn nature, I still try to help him out when I can. The most recent example was when he finally got tired of the cable company raising his rates and decided to switch to satellite TV.

Every time I called him, he was scouring the Internet, searching for the best deal and who to place his order with. I told him about the place I'd found and how easy it was to use. "Do not buy Dish Network without checking out this site first," I said. But did he listen? Of course not. I've put the link at the bottom of this story, so scroll down there and check it out. Hopefully you're smarter than Tim and will take my advice and go there.

Anyway, back to the review of Dish Network. I told Tim how I'd already done all the research. I'd already learned that Dish Network offers the most channels for the least amount of money. It could have saved him so much time and aggravation, if he wasn't such a stubborn SOB.
If he'd listened to me, he could already be enjoying all the movies and sporting events on their pay-per-view channels. He could choose from 200 hours a day of HD programming. He could get an HDTV receiver, a DVR and 4 rooms installed for NOTHING! It's all free! If you know WHERE to get it from, that is. And for that, you're going to have to click on those links down at the bottom.

Now, Tim has to do things his own way, even when his own way is costlier, more time consuming and sometimes just downright stupid.

In fact, he's just about ruined me for trying to help people. But I believe when you find something good, especially if it saves time and money, you should share it with others. That's why I included those three links down at the bottom. I clicked on dozens of websites about Dish Network (and there are millions online) before I landed on those three, and believe me, they are the ONLY ones worth your time.

Now, let's get to that dirty little secret I uncovered quite by accident. Some of the websites you'll go to will bury their best deals on the inner pages of their websites. A lot of people don't look beyond the first page or two of details and never even see them. While they may think it makes for good business, it doesn't make potential customers very happy.

You can stop spinning your wheels and wasting your valuable time by following my advice and clicking on the links below. Why, because these guys are the ones who spend all day long finding those "secret" pages and keeping on top of the best deals. That's the only way I was able to find the most current promotions and the simplest way to order your Dish Network system.

Or you can be like Tim, determined to do things your own way and spend days, even weeks, trying to sort through a maze of hype.

Tim called last night. After 3 weeks, I guess he'd finally had enough, though he'd never admit that to me. But he did ask, "Hey man, what was that website you said you found?" He tried to be all casual about it, like it didn't matter much, but I knew better.

Don't be like Tim. Listen to someone who's been there and done it. Just click the links at the end of this story. You'll be glad you did.

Cheapest DirecTV Or Dish Network Satellite TV Deals

In this article I will explain the details of how you can get a really good deal on satellite television service, but first I need to explain a couple of options you may, or may not have known about. I'll also tell you these are the cheapest ways to get satellite TV, and that's not an exaggeration. I would even stake my reputation on the fact.

Satellite TV Standalone or Bundled
Satellite TV is still generally less expensive than cable, if even slightly, but there are a couple ways to get satellite TV that can save you a little more money depending on whether you want bundled services, or you prefer to just get satellite television as a standalone product. With bundled services you may be able to add phone and high-speed Internet to your package, and get a discount for having everything on one bill. With stand alone satellite you may be able to get a discount for a specified number of months.

Dish Network

Dish Network Options
Not too long ago you could get Dish Network from AT&T, which included phone service and DSL. Recently AT&T changed its satellite TV provider, and now offers DirecTV. On the flip side of this, Dish Network now offers its own brand of DSL and phone service, but it's not widely available just yet. This year Dish Network has also started a very aggressive campaign to increase its customer base by offering programming for .99 for six months.

Cheapest DirecTV Or Dish Network Satellite TV Deals

Now, before you get all defensive about that price only being for six months, don't forget that's half of one year, and the programming only goes up to .99 after the promotion has ended. That's still cheaper than cable for a comparable package. This also requires a commitment, but that's the case with any bundled package deal at a discounted rate.

DirecTV Options
The largest provider of satellite television in the United States is DirecTV, and they have contracts with the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. AT&T, Verizon, and Qwest all offer DirecTV with home phone, wireless phone, and DSL or high-speed Internet all on the same bill. You do get a discount for having everything bundled together, but package prices can be different depending on the levels of phone service, speed of Internet, and the number of channels and features you choose for DirecTV. Getting the DirecTV bundled package makes good economical sense if you're using or planning to use any of the other services mentioned anyway, since you'll get a discount.

DirecTV as a standalone product is also a good option, and if you're a first time customer you can get a good discount for programming for the first year. Promotional packages start at .99 for 150 channels. Though cheaper than cable, it's still about the same price, as the Dish Network package that is .99 for the first six months, then goes up to around .

Dish Network vs DirecTV
It's pretty easy to see that Dish Network will cost considerably less than DirecTV as a standalone product, but where DirecTV really shines is when it is bundled through one of the major phone companies at a discounted rate, which makes it a viable alternative to lowering the cost of your overall elective utilities based on an average monthly cost. There is no clear winner here since it depends on your personal preferences, but the information provided here will hopefully give you some insight as to which plan will be cheapest for you.

Dish Network Internet - What You Need to Know

As a stay at home mom with two small children and an online business to run, my days are pretty full. After the little ones go to bed, my husband helps me get merchandise ready to ship and I spend a couple of hours online, every night, building what I hope will one day become a hugely successful business.

When I first decided to pursue an Internet business, I spent a great deal of time making sure I chose the all the right ingredients that would give me the best chance for success. I did some research before choosing a hosting company for my website and finally selected one that guaranteed 99% uptime. If your site is down, your business is closed.

Dish Network

The problem I quickly discovered is that it doesn't matter how good the hosting company is or how much uptime they have if your Internet connection goes out! And mine did, over and over again, sometimes simply because it was raining, other times for no apparent reason at all. I complained repeatedly to my Internet provider and while they were apologetic, nothing was ever done to assure me that it wouldn't continue to happen.

Dish Network Internet - What You Need to Know

One day I was complaining about it to one of the women in my networking group and she told me how happy she was with her Internet access through Dish Network. I didn't even know Dish Network offered Internet service! I thought it was just a satellite TV system. After we hung up, I jumped online and started looking for more information.

I finally found what I was looking for. All the information I needed to make an informed decision was presented in the most straightforward way possible. It was easy to understand and the ordering process was an absolute breeze. Dish Network offers promotional discounts that change from time to time and when I subscribed to my satellite package through that website I was able to save a great deal of money. I'm not saying you'll get the same deal I got, but I've included the link below so you can check it out for yourself.

You don't have to own an online business to benefit from Dish Network's Internet service. I was so pleased with our service that I told my mom and both my sisters about it. I gave them the same link you'll find at the end of this article. My sister Shelly lives on a farm so far from town that she's never even been able to get cable. But with Dish Network, she now gets more channels than cable even offers PLUS her Internet connection via satellite. She was absolutely thrilled to finally feel like she had joined everyone else in the 21st century.

In fact, it doesn't matter where you live; Internet access is available to you through Dish Network. They've partnered with Wildblue to provide Internet service to the most remote areas you can imagine. As long as you've got a spot with southern exposure Dish Network can bring the world into your home.

You don't have to take my word for it. Click on the link below, visit the site and decide for yourself. All I can tell you is that it was one of the best decisions I've made for my business. I never have to worry anymore about not being able to sign on. I'd have paid a high price for that peace of mind. Thanks to the site listed below, and Dish Network, I didn't have to. Go check 'em out and you'll see what I mean.

Direct TV Vs Dish Network, Which is Better?

When satellite TV began taking off, Direct TV was the undisputed leader on the market. It did not take long before competitors began to appear. The most successful of these competitors is Dish Network. Together with DirecTV, it is now one of the leading providers of satellite TV in the United States. They both offer very similar services but there are some small differences between the two. DirecTV still seems to be slightly more popular, but both companies have been recognized for the great services they provide.

One of the biggest differences between DirecTV and DishNetwork is the fact that it offers fewer channels than its competitor: 255 compared to 500 for Dish Network. In some US cities you really do not have a choice between satellite TV providers. In Oklahoma City, for example, you can only sign up for Dish Network, while people who live in Las Vegas can only get DirecTV. DirecTV also owns the exclusive rights to NFL and MLB programming and offers more sports packages than Dish Network, so if you like sports this company may be a better choice for you.

Dish Network

In the end both companies offer excellent services. Both now offer free installation and equipment (for first time customers). No matter which provider you end up choosing, you will enjoy all the benefits in image and sound quality that satellite TV offers. Sports fans should go with DirecTV though, as their sports packages are far superior to the ones offered by DishNetwork. Other than that both services are pretty similar.

Dish Network Vs Direct TV

When it comes to satellite television programming, your choice usually comes down to Dish Network vs Direct TV. By comparing these two satellite television providers, you can find the one that works best for you and your television viewing, so that you make the most of the money that you spend. Where do you begin your comparison of Dish Network vs Direct TV?

You will first want to compare the number of channels and the type of channels that are offered from each satellite provider.

Dish Network

Here is the basic rundown of the offerings of each service. For around per month, Dish Network offers a satellite package of 100 top channels with the local channels. For the same amount, Direct TV offers a package of 140 top channels and includes 50 XM Satellite radio channels as well. This price for the Direct TV includes local channels as well.

Dish Network Vs Direct TV

By comparing the offerings for each price that fits your budget, you can find the right satellite provider for you and your needs.

Another comparison that you will want to make is the price of the components that are needed to get the satellite programming.

For the most part, these components are offered free if you sign up for service for a particular length of time, but sometimes there is a rental fee that is associated with components, which can cause your monthly fee to be more than the programming cost.

Be sure that you read the fine print of your contract to be sure that you completely understand the terms, so that there will not be any surprises.

Customer service is much the same for both companies. They each offer a 24 hour a day, seven days a week customer service line, which will allow you to get in touch with them any time that you need it.

Dish Network is ranked #1 in customer service for cable and satellite providers, but Direct TV is right behind them at #2. This shows you how much they value their customers and work to keep them happy versus cable providers.

One thing that Direct TV offers you that Dish Network doesn't is some really cool sports viewing ability. This does cost extra, but the bird's eye view and extra features that you get from these packages may be well worth the additional cost.

The sports that offer you these amazing views are NASCAR, NBA basketball, major league baseball, NFL football, hockey, and more. If you are a sports fanatic, then you will want to consider Direct TV for this programming.

When comparing Dish Network vs Direct TV, you will want to include those parts of television viewing or features that are important to you. If price is your main consideration, then use this as the main comparison. If sports are your thing, then use sports as your main comparison.

By customizing your comparisons to your viewing and needs, you will find the right satellite programming option for you and your needs.

Dish Network Is The Television Service To Shop For

When shopping around for the best service of any type it's important to realize that while some services have their own unique strengths over their competitors, the service that you should choose is the one that meets your needs the best not just the one that has any one area that's stronger than the others. This is true of television service providers too. If you're shopping around for a television service provider there are probably a number of things that you'd like to have in whatever television service you choose. In all likelihood these things include a decent number of channels and reliable service for a reasonable price.

On all of those counts, Dish Network is a superior service than the average cable TV company. While the average cable TV company provides you with between ninety and one hundred and twenty channels, Dish Network can provide you with up to three hundred channels. Possibly more depending on which programming package you go with and what kinds of extra channels you decide to add on to it.

Dish Network

While extra channels may not be one of the things you're specifically looking for when you shop around for television service, they can go a long way toward making your programming package exactly the way that you want it to be. Dish Network offers additional channels including seasonal sports subscriptions, local channels, special interest channels, and Sirius satellite radio channels. You can also get international programming in any of nineteen different foreign languages including French, Armenian, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Chinese, and many more.

Service reliability is also a big thing that you want to look for. On average Dish Network satellite TV tends to be much more reliable than cable TV in terms of outages and other problems of that nature. The only thing that cable TV may be better at than satellite TV is continuing service during adverse weather conditions. That's because the cables that deliver cable TV programming are buried in the ground, making them more resistant to weather conditions that can disrupt the satellite TV signal beyond the receiver's ability to filter out interference. While this is worth considering, it should also be pointed out that cable TV is only resistant to weather conditions to a point. With extreme flooding and landslides, the cables can be taken out entirely and you could be left without television service for days or even weeks. If you had a satellite TV system from Dish Network in the same situation, you could get back to watching TV as soon as the weather is clear and the power is restored.

Value is also an important part of choosing a television service provider, and Dish Network beats the average cable TV provider in that way too. That's because the minimum programming package from a cable TV service that has any substance will cost about seventy dollars a month. Contrast that with the fact that you can get Dish Network's entry level, though still substantial, America's Top 60 Entertainment Package for about thirty a month, and you see instant savings of about forty dollars a month.

All of these factors make it clear that while cable TV has its one strength, Dish Network has an incredible advantage.

Dish Network Equipment - A User Guide

Owning Dish Network equipment will give you access to hundreds of TV channels of your choice. With cable programming becoming increasingly expensive and limited to a few channels nowadays, more and more people are turning to Dish TV as a solution to their TV viewing problems. But, before you start on how to select Dish Network equipment, you need to understand what equipment you need, and how they work.

Satellite Dish

Dish Network

Dish TV transmission is through satellite signals. The satellite dish receives these signals and feeds them to the receiver.

Feed Horn

Attached to the satellite dish is the feed horn, which decodes the satellite signals, received by the satellite dish. After "cleaning" the signals, the feed horn feeds them to the receiver.

Receiver

After the feed horn has provided satellite signal to the receiver, the receiver changes it to a form compatible with the TV.

Remote

The remote allows you to change channels, increase or decrease volume, and set particular channels at a specified number. The remote helps you activate the DVD controls. The remote also helps parents set certain channels off limits for their children.

Choosing Equipment

Dish TV has two kinds of receivers: standard and HD. The standard receivers, in addition to the functions mentioned above, allow interactive TV and parental control over channels. If you want to have Dish TV programming at cheaper rates, the standard receiver is the best option. If you love high definition viewing, then the HD receiver is the best Dish Network equipment for you. Order this receiver only if you have a compatible TV set. If you like to freeze live programs and resume watching them later, the DVD receiver is the best option.

If you like high definition TV as well as enjoy recording live broadcasts for later viewing, then a combination receiver of HDTV and DVR is the best option for you. This allows you vivid imagery as well better TV viewing.

Also, keep in the mind that the satellite dish, which is part of standard Dish Network equipment, is larger than the satellite dish provided by other Dish TV providers. This means that you need to install a new stand for mounting this dish.

Accessories

You can also order accessories along with the standard Dish Network equipment. You can purchase a spare remote if you have more than two TV sets, or have more than 3-4 members in your family. You can buy accessories that allow you to remote control your TV from any spot in your home.

Keep in mind your budget, number of family members, choice of channels, TV viewing preferences, and factors such as size and location of your house when ordering Dish Network equipment. This ensures a hassle free TV viewing experience for the entire family.
