Cheapest DirecTV Or Dish Network Satellite TV Deals

In this article I will explain the details of how you can get a really good deal on satellite television service, but first I need to explain a couple of options you may, or may not have known about. I'll also tell you these are the cheapest ways to get satellite TV, and that's not an exaggeration. I would even stake my reputation on the fact.

Satellite TV Standalone or Bundled
Satellite TV is still generally less expensive than cable, if even slightly, but there are a couple ways to get satellite TV that can save you a little more money depending on whether you want bundled services, or you prefer to just get satellite television as a standalone product. With bundled services you may be able to add phone and high-speed Internet to your package, and get a discount for having everything on one bill. With stand alone satellite you may be able to get a discount for a specified number of months.

Dish Network

Dish Network Options
Not too long ago you could get Dish Network from AT&T, which included phone service and DSL. Recently AT&T changed its satellite TV provider, and now offers DirecTV. On the flip side of this, Dish Network now offers its own brand of DSL and phone service, but it's not widely available just yet. This year Dish Network has also started a very aggressive campaign to increase its customer base by offering programming for .99 for six months.

Cheapest DirecTV Or Dish Network Satellite TV Deals

Now, before you get all defensive about that price only being for six months, don't forget that's half of one year, and the programming only goes up to .99 after the promotion has ended. That's still cheaper than cable for a comparable package. This also requires a commitment, but that's the case with any bundled package deal at a discounted rate.

DirecTV Options
The largest provider of satellite television in the United States is DirecTV, and they have contracts with the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. AT&T, Verizon, and Qwest all offer DirecTV with home phone, wireless phone, and DSL or high-speed Internet all on the same bill. You do get a discount for having everything bundled together, but package prices can be different depending on the levels of phone service, speed of Internet, and the number of channels and features you choose for DirecTV. Getting the DirecTV bundled package makes good economical sense if you're using or planning to use any of the other services mentioned anyway, since you'll get a discount.

DirecTV as a standalone product is also a good option, and if you're a first time customer you can get a good discount for programming for the first year. Promotional packages start at .99 for 150 channels. Though cheaper than cable, it's still about the same price, as the Dish Network package that is .99 for the first six months, then goes up to around .

Dish Network vs DirecTV
It's pretty easy to see that Dish Network will cost considerably less than DirecTV as a standalone product, but where DirecTV really shines is when it is bundled through one of the major phone companies at a discounted rate, which makes it a viable alternative to lowering the cost of your overall elective utilities based on an average monthly cost. There is no clear winner here since it depends on your personal preferences, but the information provided here will hopefully give you some insight as to which plan will be cheapest for you.

What Does Avian Flu, 7 Eleven, and Sauerkraut Have in Common?

Have you been reading those alarming headlines lately:

"The avian flu will be in the United States in a few months because of migrating birds"?

Dish Network

Well, consider this evolving story about a possible preventative: sauerkraut.

What Does Avian Flu, 7 Eleven, and Sauerkraut Have in Common?

This story started last November as scientists at Seoul National University in South Korea fed an extract of kimchi, a spicy Korean variant of sauerkraut, to 13 chickens infected with avian flu, and a week later, 11 of the birds started to recover, according to a report by the BBC Network.

Well guess what? A company that makes sauerkraut in Wisconsin made these claims: "we've got the preventative, and 115,000 tons of it in Wisconsin alone," said Ryan Downs, owner and general manager of Great Lakes Kraut Co., which has sauerkraut factories in Bear Creek and Shiocton, Wis., and in Shortsville, N.Y.

Downs said more extensive scientific research is needed to prove any curative link to avian flu, but he's more than happy to tout kraut as a healthful part of any diet.

"People are starting to realize kraut is a pretty doggone good food," Downs said when contacted about the South Korean study. "We're ready to help keep the world healthy."

After a Minneapolis CBS affiliate did its own story on sauerkraut's potential in the battle against avian flu, Frank's checked 54 Twin City area stores it supplies, and found an 850 percent spike in overall sauerkraut sales, Lundin said.

Now the story gets better. Headlines in January started touting the benefits of sauerkraut (unrelated to the avian flu story) as being a low carb food, and named sauerkraut as one of the hottest foods of 2006.

Believe It or Not: Sauerkraut was named as one of the Hottest Foods of 2006. Additionally the National Restaurant Association cites sauerkraut as an older dish making a comeback. And lo and behold now Arby's has introduced a new Reuben sandwich as part of their new "market fresh sandwich" program and they use Frank's Sauerkraut, considered to be the highest quality sauerkraut in the United States.

A Georgetown University study (February 2006) was cited, in the latest issue of the British Journal of Cancer, and expands upon many other cancer studies by identifying and describing the cellular process which gives cruciferous foods, like cabbage and sauerkraut, a strong cancer-fighting response in the human body.

The study found that a chemical called indol-3-carbonol (I3C) which occurs naturally in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and sauerkraut, boosts the activity of two genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, which then work to detect and repair damaged DNA. Because damaged DNA can lead cells to become cancerous, eating foods that repair DNA, like sauerkraut, may lower the risk of cancer development.

Now the 7Eleven connection.

I started noticing that 7Eleven stores carry as part of their condiment arsenal, sauerkraut. And when combined with their big bite array of dogs it actually becomes a low carb alternative. According to Charles Stuart Platkin, a syndicated health, nutrition, and fitness columnist, author of the best-selling book, Breaking the Pattern (Red Mill Press, 2002), the 7 Eleven Biggest Bite can be broken down to the following goodies:

7 Eleven 1/3 Pound Big Biggest Bite (no bun): 480 calories, 45g fat, 3g carbs

Mr. Platkin further elaborates:

"All I can say is pack on the sauerkraut -- it's your best bet. It has very few calories and no fat. Mustard, ketchup and relish are also great deals in terms of calories. Steer clear of butter and mayo, which have a habit of turning up on almost everything we eat. Also, try to avoid cheese and chili whenever possible; they can add more than 250 calories and 15g fat to your frank.

--- Sauerkraut (1 cup): 27 calories, 0g fat, 6g carbs

Now you know the connection between the avian flu, 7 Eleven and sauerkraut.

Also, have you noticed that no South Koreans have died from the Avian Flu, even though there have been several infections?

Now this is Real-Food-For-Thought!

Stay healthy,

Time Management - Do It Now Microwave Minutes for Amazing Results!

Do It Now!

I once knew an attorney who said he cured himself of extreme procrastination by telling himself thousands of times, "Do it now!"

Dish Network

He became very successful in Las Vegas, so I would say his strategy worked. That's point one.

Time Management - Do It Now Microwave Minutes for Amazing Results!

Microwave Minutes

Point two is that lately I have been very aware of microwave minutes. Some days I don't even believe in microwaves -- they turn water molecules into horror stories, according to Dr. Emoto. But I still use our microwave!

And when I set it for one minute, it's amazing what I can do before it beeps at me! From the counter top drying towel, I can put away all the dishes and silverware, gather up and wash three scattered cat dishes with dried on crud, or get out eight separate supplements and swallow them. I can look up a new recipe in Joy of Cooking and mark the page.

In three minutes, by the microwave timer, I can fold a medium load of laundry, scan and clear about 15 emails, or write the first four paragraphs of this article.

Time Management

This has me reflecting on time management. It really all comes down to the minutes.

Doing one small thing now -- in your office, your garden, your volunteer program -- with focus and direction, is productive use of time.

When we procrastinate, it's because we think we don't have a minute. Maybe we're being lazy or feeling stressed out and resistant to any action. Or we're scared to try something when we are not sure how to succeed. But a minute -- 60 small seconds -- is actually ripe with potential if we will use it to do something! If we just take the first step toward a goal -- look up a phone number for a networking call, for instance -- we are managing that minute wisely.

I have often found that breaking goals into small, even microscopic steps, is a sure-fire way to success. Now it looks like fitting small steps into your nano-moments -- those in between points in your day -- is a fine way to outsmart time and reach your goals, whether a neater kitchen or a new career.

Do It Now Microwave Minutes for Amazing Results!

It's my sneaky new strategy for time management. Check it out to see what kind of success you can squeeze into a minute or three, with absolutely minimal stress.

Satellite Direct TV Review

Are you interested to know more about the Satellite Direct TV software that supposedly allows you to watch all your favorite TV channels such as sports, premium movie channels, international TV shows and many other genres? If you are and you also hate to pay expensive cable television bills, you will definitely be interested to see this online program that I had downloaded.

1. Is Satellite Direct TV Software Worth the Money?

Dish Network

It cost about .95, which is half the price of a month's worth of cable television subscription. This is an offer price which I personally feel is great value for money. I have recommended all my good friends to watch TV channels using this software and they have all thanked me for it.

Satellite Direct TV Review

2. What are the Benefits of Using Satellite Direct TV Software Compared to Traditional Cable TV Services?

Setting up the program to run can be done quickly in less than 5 minutes. This is much faster and more convenient when compared to using other traditional methods such as installing heavy satellite dishes and equipment. Once I have set this up, I could completely cut off my cable TV subscription since Satellite Direct TV had all the channels that I want to watch.

3. What is the Standard Procedure of Acquiring Satellite Direct TV?

Firstly, you will need to register yourself as a member of the website by ordering online and providing your personal and payment details. Once you have checked out safely and made the one time payment, you should proceed to download the installation software, which should be done in just a few minutes. Once done, you can simply run the software and you will have access to more than 3,500 TV channels on your screen without having to worry about paying bills every month again.

Cable Internet & TV Hook Up

Cable TV internet and TV hook up is something that needs to be considered in order to fully enjoy and benefit from a TV watching experience based on the internet. The hardware is becoming more and more advanced, as the new generations are becoming more and more compatible with computers in general. The future is for sure designed around a combination of computers and TV, therefore the internet should not be seen anymore as a different platform than satellite or cable TV.

Cable internet and TV hook up is today so easy and even the new digital boxes and all other sorts of devices can be used interchangeably, as internet or TV sources. This of course, is a major technological breakthrough that, alongside with the new advertising and marketing strategies, will softly guide the transition of mass audiences from traditional TV watching to Internet TV. This is of course a major cultural and social revolution as well that is literally happening in front of our eyes and that will continue in the years to come, smoothly and probably without any major pain.

Dish Network

Cable Internet & TV hook up goes beyond anything ever done or experienced, as it is relatively new, although it feels that has been around forever. Every day new content is produced specifically for the web and the large companies are becoming aware of that, changing their investing strategies. This will boost the Internet TV even further to the future, leaving very little room to come back. We are actually living the point of no return.

Artificial Satellite Types

A celestial body orbiting another celestial body of larger size is a satellite. An artificial satellite is a manufactured object or vehicle intended to orbit the earth, the moon, or another celestial body. Since October 4th, 1957 humanity is capable of putting artificial satellites in orbit around the earth. The Russians were the first with Sputnik; a small satellite that orbited the earth for a couple of months and transmitted beeps for 21 days.

The USA launched its first satellite on January 31st, 1958. This satellite was named Explorer 1, and through the data transmitted back to earth by Explorer 1, scientists discovered the van Allen radiation belts, zones in space around the earth, and the planets Jupiter and Saturn, containing high-energy protons and electrons.

Dish Network

50 years ago artificial satellites did not exist. Since Sputnik more than 4800 satellites have been launched by governments and private companies around the world. Satellites are used for satellite TV of course, but there are many more purposes for satellites.

Artificial Satellite Types

Types of Satellites

The Moon is a satellite of the earth; the earth is a satellite of the sun. The first is called a moon, the second a planet. Man made (artificial) satellites orbit any celestial body and are always called a satellite, whether they orbit the earth, the moon, the sun or any other celestial body.

We use satellites for different purposes and all satellites can be placed in one of the following categories:

Communications Satellites

Distribution of television and audio signals, and telephone connections via satellite are done by Communications Satellites. These types of communications typically need a satellite in geostationary orbit. In 1964 the US Department of Defense launched the first satellite that was placed in geostationary orbit. This satellite was named Syncom 3.

Today geostationary satellites are used to provide voice, audio and video communications like satellite TV by Dish Network Satellite.

Navigation Satellites

These satellites were of enormous help to transportation companies, especially transportation over water and through the air. The US GPS satellites are in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and can determine position with a precision of 1 cm (0.4 inch). However, that very precise positioning is available for military purposes only. For commercial use the precision is less accurate.

Navigation satellites are also used for distance measurements for instance between buildings.

Weather Satellites

Observing the earth is the task for weather satellites, and then especially what happens in the atmosphere. Different kinds of cameras, like infrared and normal cameras are used to observe either the same part of the earth, from a geostationary orbit, or more closely from polar orbits to get more detailed pictures. These low orbit weather satellites focus more on the study of the atmosphere than on the current weather it self.

Military Satellites

Very similar to weather satellites, military satellites are also used for observing the earth. Generally with higher resolution cameras and instead of normal communications equipment, they use encryption as well. Sometimes these types of satellites have very different types of orbits. For instance a very elliptical orbit which brings the satellite as far away from the earth as the moon and as close to the earth that it shortly enters the atmosphere, to get as close as possible to the earth surface without falling back to earth.

Probably many more tactics are used, but for obvious reasons, these are unknown.

Scientific Satellites

Observing the earth for scientific purposes is also very good possible with satellites. Making maps with low polar orbits satellites for instance, but also measuring the exact shape of the earth, geological research, etc can all benefit greatly from scientific satellites.

But scientific satellites are not just used for observing the earth. The research of space benefits also from scientific satellites. For instance the Hubble Satellite which actually is a huge telescope that orbits the earth. Because the Hubble telescope doesn't have to "see" through the atmosphere it can produce much clearer and detailed images than earth based telescopes.

What is a Satellite TV Descrambler

Why you need a descrambler for satellite TV

There are two types of satellite TV signal that you are able to access: Free To Air (FTA) and Premium. To cut a long story short you need a descrambler to watch premium and pay-per-view satellite broadcasts but you do not need one to watch FTA transmissions. So what is a satellite TV descrambler exactly?...

Dish Network

Satellite TV basics

What is a Satellite TV Descrambler

Satellite TV is beamed from a satellite in space to your satellite dish and then passed via a cable to the receiver next to your TV. The job of the receiver is to convert the radio frequency signal from your dish into audio and video signals that you can feed into your home television equipment.

If the incoming signal is Free-to-Air then it will not be scrambled so the job of the receiver is done. You can enjoy the output of the receiver for as long as you like. If the incoming signal is scrambled or encrypted however then you will need to descramble it before you can watch it.

How satellite TV providers make their money

Launching satellites into space and running a huge broadcasting network requires a lot of money so providers generate that money from you, the consumer, in a number of ways. One way they make money is by persuading advertisers to pay them for showing advertising along with their interesting programmes. For some FTA channels this is their only means of generating revenue.

Another way to generate cash from the consumer more directly is to charge you for what you watch. Often a provider will offer a mixture of FTA and chargeable programming. The FTA channels get you hooked then you pay for the more entertaining channels.

What stops you watching premium satellite TV for free?

A provider of premium satellite TV has to have a way to make you pay for what you watch so they encrypt or scramble the TV signal and sell you a key to unlock it. When you have paid your subscription or the fee for a one-time pay-per-view the satellite TV provider sends a signal to your set-top box, which programmes your viewing card to allow the descrambler in the box to decode the signal so that you can watch it.

More information on this in the article Satellite TV Descrambler
Can you own your own satellite TV descrambler and be legal?

There isn't anything to stop you owning satellite TV descrambling equipment but if you use it to watch non-FTA programmes then you must inform the satellite TV provider that you are doing so. I bet they then send you a bill.

It is possible to acquire equipment that enables you to unlock and descramble premium satellite TV but the complexity and sophistication of modern digital TV encryption techniques are making it impractical to do so.
